Preserving and Promoting Danish Culture

At the Northwest Danish Foundation, we are proud of the many great things Danish culture has to offer. So we celebrate it and pass along our knowledge and traditions to those who share our interests. For over eighty years, we have maintained this commitment and interaction with the community around us.
 
Annually, we operate Danish language camps for children offering both day and residential options.  The Danish folkehojskole movement provides inspiration for the Foundation’s annual Himmelbjerget Camp for teens and summer day camp for young children and for the historical and cultural lectures, presentations, and exhibits sponsored by the Foundation. 
 
Additionally, each year the Foundation awards scholarships to young men and women who reside in either Washington or Oregon for their education studying Danish language and literature, arts and crafts, history and political science.  For over 16 years, our scholarship awards make educational dreams a reality.
